Coupe

A coupe's shallow bowl and wide surface release aromatics as you drink; its stem keeps the warmth of your hand off a cocktail served without ice; and its rounded shape is far more forgiving to carry than the V-shaped glass people call a martini glass. There is no such thing as a martini glass. Chill it before you build the drink — a room-temperature glass undoes a well-judged shake in seconds.

Glassware is a functional tool, not decoration. The glass solves a problem the drink presents.
