Mixing Glass

There is no citrus and no egg in a spirit-forward drink — nothing that needs aeration. Shaking would cloud a cocktail that should arrive clear and silky, and over-dilute it on the way. A mixing glass lets you watch the process instead of guessing at it: the frost climbs the outside, and that is how you know when to stop.

A Boulevardier is stirred rather than shaken, and that is a technical decision, not a stylistic one.

Specs

  • A heavy base so it does not walk while you stir
  • A seamless interior — a seam catches the spoon
  • 500 ml or larger; crowding the ice defeats the purpose
  • A spout that pours cleanly
